Two Olathe Swim Teams Merge
A new era in swimming begins today with the merger of two well-respected USA Swimming teams in Kansas. The COOL Waves Swim Team and the Olathe Lightning Swim Team are officially uniting to become the City of Olathe Lightning (COOL) Swim Team.
The two teams will combine their operations immediately with the official merger effective August 1, 2010, after the required USA Swimming waiting period. COOL Waves and Olathe Lightning are currently year-round USA Swimming competitive swim teams. The COOL Swim Team will be a year-round USA competitive swim team and will be a not for-profit organization run by a volunteer parent Board of Directors as well as by the support and contributions of parents and the community.
With over 30 years of combined experience, both teams have shared a common vision of developing competitive swimmers of all ages. With a focus on high quality professional coaching, technique instruction and stroke development, the COOL Swim Teamwill build on the past successes of each program to better serve the Olathe swimming community.
The COOL Swim Team will bring together nearly 200 swimmers under the expert leadership of Head Coach Laurie Reaburn. According to Coach Reaburn, the merger immediately raises the level of training by providing the swimmers with more competition in practices. The merger also adds a greater level of excitement for the swimmers as they train and travel together to local, regional and national meets.
